Introduction to organization

Merchant Navy jobs 2020 is the name given to the international merchant shipping industry. It consists of a large number of shipping companies that recruit their own cadet officers. The merchant sailors, both officers and civilians, are employed by these companies. The officer cadet program is limited to the deck and engineering departments.

Qualifications: HSC (Pre-Engineering) OR equivalent to physics,
mathematics and chemistry.

Age: not more than 20 years old as of December 31, 2020 (can be relaxed by one year for persons belonging to FATA / Gilgit Baltistan and Azad Kashmir)

Entrance Test: Applicants must take an entrance test as required by the

Medical fitness. Medical examinations are carried out in military hospitals designated by the Academy. In addition, after final selection, candidates must pass the “Visual and Color Test” by the Merchant Marine Department (MMD), Karachi. Failure in this test does not qualify for admission to PMA.

Navigation (deck) officers

Officers-navigators are on watch on the bridge at sea and behind the ship in the port. They are responsible for planning the passage, safe navigation of the vessel, loading and unloading of cargo, the stability of the vessel, communications, and maintenance of the hull and deck equipment.

Marine Engineering Officers

Marine Engineer Officers are responsible for the maintenance and operation of the ship’s main power plant and ancillary facilities, including deck equipment, air conditioning units, refrigeration units, and domestic and electrical services. Depending on the type of ship and the operating conditions, engineers must keep watch in the ship’s engine room.

Electrical Engineering Officers (ETO)

These specialists work in the engineering department, where they take on special responsibility for maintaining onboard control equipment and electronic systems, including propulsion control, radio communications, and electronic navigation aids.
